Regular and Irregular Verbs

In English, verbs are subdivided into two groups, regular verbs and irregular verbs on the basis of how their past tense and past participles are formed.

Regular verbs are dependably consistent the simple past ends in -d, -ed, or -ied as does the past participle.

Irregular verbs are verbs that don’t take on the regular -d, -ed, or -ied spelling patterns of the past simple or past participle.

There are over 250 irregular verbs in English.
